Since 2018, Prof. Leszek Bosek has been the head of the Laboratory of Medical Law and Biotechnology. Its task is to coordinate interdisciplinary scientific research, lectures, and seminars in the field of medical law.

In 2002, he graduated with honours from the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw. In 2006, he defended his doctoral dissertation entitled "Bezprawie legislacyjne w prawie polskim (problemy odpowiedzialności odszkodowawczej)" [Legislative Unlawfulness in Polish Law (Problems of Tort Liability)].

In 2013, he completed his habilitation based on his habilitation thesis entitled "Gwarancje godności ludzkiej i ich wpływ na polskie prawo cywilne" [Guarantees of Human Dignity and Their Impact on Polish Civil Law] (project N N110 043935, as head). Since 2015, he has been employed as a professor at the University of Warsaw. Until 2015, he was an assistant professor at Jagiellonian University.

He conducted research at the European University Institute in Florence, Oxford University, the Max Planck Institute in Hamburg, in Leuven, at Cardiff School of Law and in Berlin.

Leszek Bosek, born 4 March 1977 in Bolesławiec, Professor at the University of Warsaw, Judge of the Supreme Court and Member of the College of the Supreme Court, President of the Attorney General of the Republic of Poland (2016-2018); scientifically specialises in civil law, European law, constitutional law and medical law.

In 2002, he graduated with honours from the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Warsaw. In 2006, at the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Warsaw, he obtained a PhD in Law (based on the thesis “Bezprawie legislacyjne w prawie polskim: problemy odpowiedzialności odszkodowawcze” [Legislative lawlessness in Polish law: problems of tort liability], written under the supervision of Prof. M. Safjan), and in 2013, a habilitation degree in law (based on the dissertation “Gwarancje godności ludzkiej i ich wpływ na polskie prawo cywilne” [Guarantees of human dignity and their impact on Polish civil law], 2012).

From 2008-2015, assistant professor, from 2015, professor in the Chair of Civil Law at the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Warsaw. From 2009-2015, he worked in the Department of Bioethics and Medical Law at the Jagiellonian University. Currently, head of the Medical Law and Biotechnology Laboratory at the University of Warsaw, and also a member of the Polish Association of European Law.

He completed research internships and conducted research at the European University Institute in Florence, Oxford University, the Max Planck Institute in Hamburg, Catholic University of Leuven, Cardiff School of Law, and Freie Universität Berlin. In 2005, he was a scholarship holder of the Foundation for Polish Science.

In the years 2019-2021, he gave papers at scientific conferences, including in Kyiv, Cambridge, Belgrade, he was the supervisor of doctorates that received distinctions at the University of Warsaw and the Jagiellonian University, and also a reviewer in habilitation proceedings conducted at the University of Warsaw, the University of Łódź, the University of Wrocław and the Polish Academy of Sciences.

From 2002-2006 – legal counsel for jurisprudence in the Office of the Constitutional Tribunal; from 2006-2011 – legal counsel of the Attorney General's Office of the State Treasury; from 2011-2016 – head of the Legislative Analysis Department in BAS. As President of the Attorney General's Office of the State Treasury, he co-created the Act of 15 December 2016 on the Attorney General of the Republic of Poland. As President of the Attorney General of the Republic of Poland, he provided opinions on legislative projects of significant importance to the state. He supervised over 7000 court and arbitration cases. In cases of particular importance, he personally represented the Republic of Poland or the State Treasury before the Supreme Court, the Court of Justice of the European Union, before the Court of Appeal in Stockholm, as well as in arbitration proceedings.

He is the author of over 120 scientific publications, and also co-editor of the six-volume series “System Prawa Medycznego” [System of Medical Law], published since 2017, and “Konstytucja Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej. Komentarz, t. I-II” [Constitution of the Republic of Poland. Commentary, vol. I-II] (co-editor Prof. M. Safjan), 2016. He has published, among others, in the journals “Forum Prawnicze”, “Zeitschrift für Europarecht, Internationales Privatrecht & Rechtsvergleichung”, “Europejski Przegląd Sądowy”, PiP, “Europarecht”, “European Journal of Health Law", PS, “Kwartalnik Prawa Prywatnego", OSP and “Przegląd Sejmowy".
