Privacy Policy
The Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw attaches particular importance to respecting the privacy of users visiting the wpia.uw.edu.pl website. Below we describe what data we collect, for what purpose we process it, and what rights you have.
Cookies used on the website
In order to provide services at the highest level, we use cookies. Using our website means that they will be placed on your device. At any time, you can change your consents in the privacy panel (link at the bottom of the page) or in your browser settings.
We use the following categories of cookies:
- Strictly necessary — required for the basic functioning of the website (including security, accessibility preferences). These cannot be disabled.
- Analytics (Google Analytics 4) — anonymous traffic and usage statistics that help us improve the website. Activated only after giving consent.
- Advertising (Google Ads, Facebook Pixel) — allow us to measure the effectiveness of the Faculty's advertising campaigns — they allow us to check whether users who clicked an ad visited our website. Activated only after giving consent.
By default — in accordance with the Google Consent Mode v2 consent model — signals ad_storage, ad_user_data, ad_personalization, analytics_storage and marketing_storage are set to denied until you express the appropriate consent in the cookies panel.
External services to which we link may use their own cookies. We are not responsible for the privacy policies applicable on those pages — we encourage you to familiarise yourself with their policies.
Data collection
The server stores HTTP requests directed to our website. The log files contain, among others:
- the public IP address of the computer from which the request came,
- the number of bytes sent by the server,
- information about the user's browser,
- information about the time when the data was sent from the server.
This information does not contain data concerning the identity of users, but in combination with other data it may constitute personal data and as such is subject to full protection under the GDPR.
Data usage
Collected logs are stored as auxiliary material for administering the website. The information contained in them is not disclosed to anyone other than persons authorised to administer the website. Statistics helpful in administering and developing the website may be generated on their basis.

Data Protection Officer
The controller has appointed a Data Protection Officer, whom you can contact by email at iod@adm.uw.edu.pl in all matters concerning the processing of your personal data and the exercise of rights related to their processing.
Purposes and legal basis of processing
We will process your personal data for the purpose of:
- conducting communication by email or telephone, if you initiate such communication — Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR (legal obligation arising, inter alia, from the Act of 20 July 2018 — Law on Higher Education and Science);
- improving the quality of services — the controller processes statistical information about the use of the website — Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest of the controller);
- measuring the effectiveness of advertising campaigns (conversion tracking) via Google Ads and Facebook Pixel — Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (based on consent given in the cookies panel);
- sending newsletters and joining the mailing list — Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (based on consent).
You may withdraw your consent to the processing of personal data at any time by contacting the controller. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.
Recipients of personal data
Authorised employees and associates of the University of Warsaw who need to process your data in connection with the task being carried out will have access to your personal data. Recipients of the data may also be entities to which the controller has entrusted the performance of specific activities on the basis of a data processing agreement.
In terms of traffic analytics and advertising activities, the recipients of the data are Google LLC, based in the United States (operator of Google Analytics 4 and Google Ads services), and Meta Platforms Ireland Limited (operator of Facebook Pixel). Data may be transferred outside the European Economic Area based on mechanisms ensuring an adequate level of protection — in particular standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission and the Data Privacy Framework. The transfer of this data takes place only after you have given your consent in the cookies panel.

Retention period for personal data
We will process your personal data until the purpose for which the data was collected is fulfilled, and then in cases that require it, for the period indicated in the Act of 14 July 1983 on the National Archival Resource and Archives and in the provisions of the Telecommunications Law. Data collected by Google Analytics 4 and Google Ads is stored in accordance with the default retention settings of these services.
Rights related to data processing
We guarantee the exercise of all rights under the GDPR, including the right to:
- access to data and obtain a copy of it;
- rectification (correction) of your personal data;
- restriction of the processing of personal data;
- erasure of personal data (subject to Art. 17(3) GDPR);
- withdrawal of consent at any time — in relation to data processed on the basis of consent;
- lodging a complaint with the President of the Personal Data Protection Office, if you consider that the processing of data violates the law.
Obligation to provide data
Providing data that is processed in connection with the fulfilment of a legal obligation is mandatory; in the case of processing based on consent — voluntary. Failure to provide data may make it difficult or impossible to realise the purposes indicated above.
