Interview with KJD

12 July 2026

An interview with Phd Andrzej Bielecki concerning new courses of study at the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Warsaw.

When can we expect new study programmes?

New study programmes can be expected in the near future. We are currently working intensively on preparing an offer that includes programmes in forensic science and criminology, which would be taught in English. It is our priority that the new programmes address the interests of both prospective students and current students, as well as the evolving demands of the labour market. However, preparing new programmes requires refining the curriculum, ensuring adequate staff, and completing the necessary formal procedures. At this stage, we cannot yet provide an exact date for the launch of recruitment, but work is underway, and we hope to be able to present detailed information soon.

Why will the studies be in English and in what form?

The planned studies are to be conducted in English and in a full-time format. We aim to create a programme with a distinctly international character, which will be accessible to candidates from Poland as well as to those interested in studying at the University of Warsaw from abroad. Conducting classes in English is intended to enable students to function freely in an international academic environment, utilise English-language literature, and develop specialised vocabulary in the field of criminology and forensic science. The full-time format will, in turn, allow for full participation in classes, workshops, and other activities envisaged in the study programme. Work on the detailed curriculum is currently underway. Information regarding recruitment, deadlines, and the organisation of studies will be published after the completion of necessary formal procedures.

When will the new studies commence?

The planned programme of study is scheduled to commence in October 2027. Until then, we will continue our work on the curriculum, the organisation of classes, and the completion of all necessary formal procedures. Our aim is for the programme to be thoroughly prepared in terms of content and organisation, and to meet the needs of prospective students interested in criminology and forensic science studies taught in English. Detailed information regarding recruitment, admission rules, and the study programme will be published well in advance.

Are the admission limits for new programmes already known?

No decision has been made yet; we are still considering the matter. On the one hand, we anticipate that great interest may be shown in the programmes, but we also acknowledge that the Faculty of Law and Administration (Wydział Prawa i Administracji) has a limited number of classrooms available for lectures. We must ensure a proper balance, especially as we also expect other programmes of study to be established.

And the Dean did not mention at the outset what other specialisations could be expected?

I did not mention them, as these are very loose plans. We believe that we are able to offer interesting studies, for instance, in the field of international or European law. Studies that would allow students to deepen their understanding of the legal aspects of financial market operations or other areas of economic exchange may also be of interest. However, decisions in this regard are still ahead of us. We must first listen to the voice of our community.

But will the Dean share this information with us?

Yes, in due course.

Thank you for the conversation.

Thank you too!
