The Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw and the General Inspector of Financial Information have signed a cooperation agreement, opening a new chapter in the development of education and research in the field of counteracting money laundering and the financing of terrorism.
We will soon launch a new postgraduate programme “Counteracting Money Laundering and the Financing of Terrorism” (also in cooperation with the Polish Financial Supervision Authority). It will be a unique educational programme on the Polish market, combining the highest academic standards with the practical knowledge and experience of the institutions responsible for the security of the state's financial system.
This agreement is historic in nature. For the first time, such a broad platform of cooperation is being established between the academic community and the key public institutions responsible for counteracting financial crime. A particular value of the programme will be the involvement of experts and practitioners of the General Inspector of Financial Information, who are involved on a daily basis in the detection and combating of money laundering and the financing of terrorism.
The programme is a unique undertaking, responding to the growing needs of the market, public administration and the financial sector. Its aim will be to prepare highly qualified specialists capable of effectively identifying and limiting the threats associated with financial crime and of ensuring compliance with national and international AML/CFT regulations.
We are convinced that the joint initiative of WPiA UW, GIIF and UKNF will become one of the most important centres of education in this field in Poland, setting new standards of cooperation between science, public administration and economic practice.
